Finished Digipak

Back of Digipak

I have added a barcode to the back of my digipak and will put the Columbia logo at the bottom too. The back is very simple with just a plain black background and using the eye-dropper tool on photoshop, I have taken the same colour pink as the lighting on the image on the front of my digiapk and used this as the colour of the font.

I will upload a screenshot later today.

Whilst waiting for my music video to export from Adobe Premiere Pro so that I can see whether the lip-syncing is as accurate as possible, I'm going to add a barcode to the back of my digipak.

Last Minute Filming

So that audience can make a clear connection between David and the home-videos, I had contacted David in the hope he was going to be free within the next couple of days for me to film him in a 'home-video situation' which would make a clear link between the two. However he is not free at all this week for me to do so. So last night I put a photo of David with family members in a frame and filmed a short clip starting with a close-up of him and a slow zoom so the full picture was in view. This is going towards the end of my video immediately followed by a close-up of David's face whilst he is playing the piano again to reinforce the link between the two.

Overlay

As the overlay I had orginally got did not work as well as I had hoped, I have found some other overlays and have asked one of the IT technicians to download and convert them for me because the school computers don't let students download files.

Whilst I am waiting for him to do this, I will do some more work to my digipak.

Problems with overlay

After converting the overlay file I had downloaded from the internet to make my home video clips look old, I tried putting it over some footage using the 'chroma key' effect in Adobe Premiere Pro. This hasn't worked as well as I had wanted it to so my plan is to try and find a different overlay which might work better.

Website

I have now finished the Latest News section of my homepage and so my website is complete! Here are two screenshot of how it looks:

Digipak

I have decided over the next couple of days to photograph lots of women of differing ages, occupations etc and plan to make a collage type image for the inside of my digipak.

Website

Here is a screenshot of my website so far. I have added the merch section with a link. All I have left to finish is the latest news section.

T-Shirts

In photoshop using two of the images I have from my photoshoot at Guild Hall I have created two T-shirts that are to be sold as merchandise.

Having looked at other artists' websites, the homepage normally features an image of some merchandise and a link to the store.

I am going to mimick this on my website.

Video

The last 10 seconds or so of my video features a clip of David laughing as he messed up when filming. It is like an outtake clip but I have chosen to put this at the end of my video because the song is quite serious and it ends the video on a more happy note. It makes David appear more in touch with his audience and easier for them to connect with him as they see him more relaxed and humerous in comparison with the rest of the video where he sings quite seriously.

Track Listing

In my free period today I have composed a track list of songs for my digipak. I had orginally planned on calling the album She's Always A Woman as this is the name of the song I have created a video for. However I don't think this title suits the name of an album and have chosen to call it Piano Man instead. Not only is this one of the songs featured on the track list but I also think it generally suits the rest of the digipak, video and website a lot better with many of my images being of David playing the piano and great proportion of the music video being piano based.

Almost complete!

I have almost completed my video and as you can see from the screenshot below I only have two small sections to fill. So I have just arranged with a friend to film around 20 seconds of herself and her boyfriend laughing and kissing to fill these gaps.

Twitter

I have finally managed to get the HTML code to work and now have a Twitter feed on my website!

Problems

For some reason I still cannot get the html code for the Twitter feed on my website to work so today I will ask my teacher if she knows how to do this.

As well as this, I loaded up my digipak to edit as other cameras are in use and I can't upload remaining footage for my video, and photoshop has locked all of my layers so I can't edit anything for my album cover. Again, I am going to ask my teacher for assistance as this will mean I will have to start my digipak again if it does not unlock the layers.

HTML for Website

I have set up a Twitter account for my music artist but to create a Twitter feed link on my website I need to paste a HTML code only found on the Twitter website. As I cannot access this site in school I will have to do this task at home tonight.

Music Video Progress

As you can see from this screenshot, I have around a minute left of filming to edit. I have enough clips to fill this section it is just a case of decide what should go where and which looks best.




I am still trying to find on the internet a clip which can be downloaded and used as an overlay for my home-video clips to make them appear even more authentic alongside the changes to gamma and colour I have made.

Music Video

Having looked around on Youtube I have found a way of editing my clips so that they look old and more like home-video footage. It involved playing around with the gamma correction tool and tinting the video. Here is a screenshot of how one of the clips looks now:-

In my study periods I have been working on my website and uploading pictures up etc. This is the progress I have made so far:

Webeden

This morning I went to log into my webeden account but it said 'login was unsuccessful'. So I have reset my password twice but it still won't let me log in. As we are in the HLC for this lesson I can't do any work on my music video. So for today's lesson I will gather some research for my website and digipak.

Deadlines

The deadline for all my production work (music video, digipak and website) is the Friday 15th March.

My evaluation needs to be completed by Friday 26th April.

After this, all of my lessons will be exam prep.
